Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Nala Commerce handles information when merchants install and use Nala Try-On and when shoppers use its camera-based virtual try-on and 3D features.

1. Scope

This policy applies to Nala Try-On, the Shopify application operated by Nala Commerce, including the embedded Shopify Admin app, Theme App Extension, virtual try-on experience and related services.

2. Information we process from Shopify merchants

When a merchant installs Nala Try-On, the app processes only the information needed to authenticate the store and provide its product visualization features.

  • Store and authentication information: the Shopify shop domain and installation/session information required to authenticate the merchant and communicate with Shopify.
  • Product information: products, variants and related product configuration needed to connect virtual try-on and 3D experiences to the correct Shopify products.
  • Files and app configuration: try-on images, 3D model files, frame measurements, calibration settings and app-owned metafields used by Nala Try-On.
  • Theme information: read-only theme information used to support the Theme App Extension and storefront setup.
Shopify-native product dataTry-on assets, 3D models and product experience settings are stored in Shopify Files and app-owned Shopify metafields rather than in a separate Nala product database.

Nala Try-On currently requests Shopify Admin API access for products, files and read-only theme information. It does not request access to Shopify customer records, orders, customer addresses or payment information.

3. Camera access and virtual try-on

The virtual try-on feature asks the shopper for camera permission only when the shopper chooses to start a camera-based try-on experience.

  • Camera access is controlled by the shopper's browser or device permissions.
  • Camera frames are processed in the shopper's browser to detect facial landmarks and position the eyewear overlay.
  • Nala Try-On does not upload or store the shopper's camera video or camera frames on Nala Commerce servers.
  • Nala Try-On does not use camera imagery to identify a person or create a persistent facial identity profile.
  • The camera stream stops when the try-on experience is closed or the browser session ends.

The browser loads software libraries and model assets used for face tracking from third-party content delivery infrastructure, including jsDelivr and Google-hosted MediaPipe model assets. Those providers may receive standard network information such as IP address, user agent and request metadata when those assets are loaded. Camera frames themselves are processed locally in the browser by Nala Try-On.

4. Shopify protected customer data

Nala Try-On does not request Shopify protected customer data through the Shopify Admin API and does not maintain a database of shoppers' names, email addresses, postal addresses, order histories or payment information.

Nala Try-On implements Shopify's required compliance webhooks, including customer data request, customer redaction and shop redaction events. Because Nala Try-On does not store customer personal data from Shopify, customer data request and customer redaction events do not require deletion of a separate Nala customer record. Shop redaction requests remove remaining authentication sessions associated with the store.

5. How we use information

We use the information described above only as reasonably necessary to:

  • install, authenticate and operate Nala Try-On;
  • display and manage virtual try-on and 3D product experiences;
  • connect product variants to the appropriate images, models and settings;
  • maintain security, diagnose technical issues and provide merchant support;
  • comply with applicable law and Shopify platform requirements.

We do not sell personal information.

6. Service providers and disclosures

We may use infrastructure and technical service providers to operate Nala Try-On. Information may also be processed by Shopify as part of the merchant's Shopify store and by third-party infrastructure that delivers required browser libraries or technical assets.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect the security and integrity of the service, or in connection with a business reorganization where legally permitted. We do not disclose shopper camera video because Nala Try-On does not receive or store it.

7. Data retention and deletion

Merchant authentication/session information is retained only while reasonably necessary to operate the installed app or satisfy legitimate security and compliance needs. When the app is uninstalled, Nala Try-On removes authentication sessions associated with the shop. Shopify-hosted product files and metafields remain subject to Shopify's platform behavior and the merchant's control.

Shop redaction requests are processed through Shopify's compliance webhook and remove remaining shop authentication sessions maintained by Nala Try-On.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information processed by the app. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, and merchants should also follow Shopify's account and access security recommendations.

9. Privacy requests and rights

Depending on applicable law, individuals may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion or other handling of their personal information. Merchants and shoppers may contact us at the address below. Shopify-related requests may also be initiated through the relevant Shopify merchant, which can trigger Shopify's required privacy workflows.

10. Children's privacy

Nala Try-On is a commerce visualization tool and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not intentionally create or maintain shopper profiles from camera imagery.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Nala Try-On changes or as legal and platform requirements evolve. The date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision.
