Shopify in Kazakhstan: what works and what has to be written.
The platform is built for a global market. Some things people expect here it handles immediately; others it does not handle at all. Here is the honest split, before you pay for it.
What Shopify handles immediately.
Store and catalogue
Products, variants, collections, filters, pages, a blog, discounts and promo codes are all there out of the box and need no development.
Three storefront languages
Russian, Kazakh and English on one store with proper page addresses. No need to run a separate site per language.
Hosting and security
Certificates, speed, load protection and platform updates are Shopify problem. You do not run a server.
And what has to be solved separately.
Payments
Shopify Payments is not available in Kazakhstan. Card payments are connected through third-party providers — workable, but a separate step and a separate contract.
Kaspi
There is no Kaspi integration in the platform: no reviews, no orders. That is written as an app — ours are Nala Reviews and Nala Marketplace Sync.
Kazpost
There is no Kazpost rate calculation at checkout. While our app is in development, delivery is set up with fixed rates by zone and weight.
Local accounting
Exchanging data with local accounting systems and generating local documents is built as an integration around a specific store process.
